Last week we completed the first module for PLTW. Students needed to build a paint brush that met the following criteria:
paint thick lines
paint thin lines
paint squiggly lines
paint polka dots
After we talked about what the paint brush needed to do, we discussed what materials we could use to make this project and then students drew two design ideas.
When their designs were drawn, students had access to various materiel and made their paint brushes.
They were then directed to test their design by painting with it.
If a student's paint brush didn't meet the criteria, they discussed how they could improve their design.
The last item in this module was to draw an improved model of their design and write a sentence about it.
